REFUND AND CANCELLATION POLICY
Last Updated: 5 October 2026
At Deshaatan, we believe you should understand what happens to your money before you book, not after something changes. This policy explains how cancellations, changes and refunds work for bookings made through www.deshaatan.com and other Deshaatan channels.
This policy is operated by Aurven Travel Commerce India Private Limited ("Deshaatan", "we", "us" or "our") and forms part of our Terms and Conditions.
1. WHICH CANCELLATION TERMS APPLY TO YOUR BOOKING
Travel services are supplied by many different hotels, transport operators and activity providers, and each has its own cancellation terms. For this reason:
the cancellation policy stated in your quotation or Booking Confirmation applies to your Booking and takes priority over the general terms below;
you will see the applicable cancellation terms before you make any payment; and
where your quotation does not state specific terms, the standard terms in Section 3 apply.
If anything in your cancellation terms is unclear, please ask your Deshaatan specialist before paying. We would rather explain it upfront than surprise you later.
2. HOW TO CANCEL
To cancel a Booking, please write to care@deshaatan.com from the email address used for the Booking, or contact your Deshaatan specialist in writing, and include:
your Booking ID;
the lead traveller's name; and
whether you are cancelling the full Booking or only some travellers or services.
The cancellation will be treated as effective from the date and time we receive your written request. Where a request is received outside working hours, it will be treated as received on the next working day, unless otherwise stated in your Booking Confirmation.
We will acknowledge your request and share a written breakdown of the cancellation charges and refundable amount.
3. STANDARD CANCELLATION CHARGES FOR DESHAATAN PACKAGES
Unless your quotation or Booking Confirmation states different terms, the following charges apply to Deshaatan holiday packages, calculated on the total package cost:
When you cancel (before the start date of travel) | Cancellation charge |
|---|---|
More than [45] days | [10]% of package cost |
[44] to [30] days | [25]% of package cost |
[29] to [15] days | [50]% of package cost |
[14] to [7] days | [75]% of package cost |
Less than [7] days, or no-show | [100]% of package cost |
Where the actual amount retained by suppliers is lower than the charge above, we will apply the lower amount.
4. NON-REFUNDABLE COMPONENTS
Some components cannot be refunded once booked, regardless of when you cancel. Where applicable, these will be identified in your quotation and may include:
flight, train or bus tickets, which follow the carrier's own cancellation rules;
hotels or rooms booked on non-refundable rates;
bookings for peak season, long weekends, festivals, New Year or special events;
permits, entry tickets, visa fees and government charges;
activities or experiences booked on non-refundable terms; and
payment-gateway or bank charges already incurred, where disclosed.
5. PARTIAL CANCELLATIONS
If some travellers cancel while others continue with the trip, the package will be recalculated for the revised group size. Room sharing, vehicle cost and group pricing may change, and the remaining travellers may need to pay the difference. We will share the revised price before making any change.
6. CHANGES INSTEAD OF CANCELLATION
If your plans change, a date change or itinerary modification may cost less than a full cancellation. Requests to change travel dates, destinations, hotels, vehicles or traveller names are subject to availability and supplier rules. Any applicable charges or fare differences will be shared before the change is confirmed, and a change is only confirmed once we confirm it in writing.
7. NO-SHOW AND UNUSED SERVICES
If you do not arrive for a booked service, leave a trip early, or choose not to use any part of your itinerary (such as a meal, sightseeing tour, transfer or hotel night), no refund will normally be available for the unused portion. Where a supplier agrees to refund an unused service, we will pass that refund on to you.
8. CANCELLATIONS OR CHANGES BY DESHAATAN OR TRAVEL PARTNERS
If Deshaatan or a Travel Partner has to cancel or significantly change a confirmed service for reasons within our or their control, we will inform you as soon as reasonably possible and offer you a choice of:
a comparable alternative service;
a revised itinerary or new travel dates; or
a refund of the amount paid for the affected service.
If you choose an alternative of a lower value, we will refund the difference.
9. EVENTS BEYOND REASONABLE CONTROL
Where travel is affected by events such as natural disasters, extreme weather, landslides, road closures, epidemics, government restrictions, civil disturbances or similar events, we will work with our Travel Partners to recover as much of your money as possible and help you with rescheduling or alternatives.
In such cases, refunds depend on what suppliers agree to return. Any supplier charges that cannot be recovered may be deducted, and we will share a breakdown of these with you.
10. REFUND PROCESS AND TIMELINES
Once a refund is confirmed:
the refund will be made to the original payment method used for the Booking, unless you request otherwise and we are able to verify the request;
where the refundable amount is held by Deshaatan, we will initiate the refund after the cancellation and refundable amount are confirmed;
where the refund depends on a Travel Partner, we will initiate it after receiving the corresponding amount, and we will keep you informed if a supplier-dependent refund is significantly delayed; and
where a specific refund timeline is stated in your Booking Confirmation or cancellation terms, that timeline will apply.
After a refund is initiated, banks, card networks, UPI providers and payment gateways may take additional time to credit the amount to your account. This processing time is outside Deshaatan's direct control.
11. TRAVEL CREDIT
In some situations, we may offer a travel credit instead of a cash refund, for example when a supplier offers a credit rather than a refund. A travel credit will only be issued with your agreement. Where a cash refund is due to you under this policy or applicable law, you will not be required to accept a credit instead.
The validity period and conditions of any travel credit will be confirmed in writing when it is issued.
12. TAXES ON CANCELLATION CHARGES
Cancellation charges may attract GST or other applicable taxes as required by law. Where taxes were paid on the original Booking, refunds of tax amounts will be handled in accordance with applicable tax rules.
13. FAILED OR DUPLICATE PAYMENTS
If a payment is deducted from your account but the Booking is not confirmed, or if you are charged twice for the same Booking, please contact us with the transaction details. Such amounts will be reversed or refunded in accordance with the timelines applicable to your payment method and bank.
14. TRAVEL INSURANCE
Cancellation charges can be significant, especially close to departure. We encourage you to consider travel insurance that covers trip cancellation and interruption. Unless expressly included in your Booking, travel insurance is not part of your package.
15. QUESTIONS AND COMPLAINTS
If you have a question about a cancellation charge or refund, or if you disagree with the amount calculated, please contact us. We will acknowledge complaints within 48 hours and aim to resolve them within one month of receipt.
